Working with Vinyl

Instructions for working with Vinyl using your Cricut. These are basic instructions, I haven't had a chance to work with a layered design yet, so there may be more to come in the future! I have SOOO many ideas for vinyl projects! It's addicting once you get started.

1. Set Speed, Pressure, and Blade to 3/Medium.
2. Select your cut, you want it to cut through only the vinyl, not the paper backing.
3. Unload paper and begin weeding. This is when you remove the excess vinyl from around your cut. Any part of the cut you do not want should be removed. (example-if you cut an O you want to remove the solid black circle from inside it.
4. Cover with transfer paper and peel off your cricut mat. Remove the paper backing from the vinyl.
5. Stick you design onto desired object (wall, plate, cup, frame, glass block, etc.). Smooth over design.
6. Peel back transfer tape slowly working it from side to side.

Here's the video I used for instructions. http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjldXXYkXTo

Cookies for Santa

I am READY for Christmas! I am sooo excited to see everyone open their gifts! I LOVE christmas shopping and am always excited to see everyone's reaction when they see their presents. I can barely keep my gifts secret.
I still need to bake some cookies, but Santa has a plate and cup now! I made these using the Quickutz vinyl. I've heard that people have trouble working with it, I had trouble getting the letters to cut with my cricut but other than that I haven't had any problems with it. This Font is Jasmine and the candy canes are from Christmas Cheer.

Cricut VINYL!!!

I totally love my Cricut! My mom gave me a baby bug a couple years ago for my birthday, but on Black Friday I splurged on the RED Cricut Expression available exclusively at Wal-Mart! I've been browsing the http://www.cricut.com/ message board and admiring everyone's AMAZING Vinyl projects. I was soooo excited to finally get the vinyl I ordered in the mail the other day. Here's my 1st project!

I bought this picture frame at the Dollar General for $2 and I bought the vinyl from http://www.customcrops.com/. I actually used the Quickutz vinyl b/c it was cheaper than the cricut vinyl. I used the Christmas Cheer cart for these cuts.

Sooo many Projects!!!

There are sooo many projects that I'm working on right now! I've been scrapping an album for each of my kids, which I've managed to stay amazingly caught up on due to attending crops. I've also been making Christmas cards. I have a couple digi albums in progress as well, a recipe album that I can some day give to the kids and a family album which I'd like to start back with Our Wedding. That means I have 4 years to catch up on that one. I'm VERY anxiously awaiting a package from http://www.customcrops.com/ containing Vinyl. I am loving all the awesome Vinyl projects I've seen recently on the http://www.cricut.com/ message board!
